EXPERIENCED/JUNIOR DESIGNER

Stone House Collective is seeking an experienced interior designer to join our Wisconsin team. We are looking for a talented and motivated professional who excels in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and brings a proactive, solution-oriented mindset to every project.

The Junior Interior Designer plays a key role in driving projects forward while collaborating closely with the Principal Designer to bring their creative vision to life and ensure alignment with the signature Stone House Collective style. This position requires strong leadership in managing design details, overseeing project progress, and maintaining clear communication with the design team. The Junior Designer will work collaboratively with the Project Manager and Principal Designer while also providing guidance to Design Assistant(s) to ensure seamless execution of each project from concept to completion.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the Master Project Schedule, ensuring accurate product information for all furniture, plumbing, appliances, lighting, and finishes.
  • Create and manage the Client Portal, keeping client specifications up to date and coordinating with the design team and Procurement Manager on orders, budgets, and shipments.
  • Request estimates, quotes, pricing, lead times, and invoices for materials and items selected by the design team.
  • Supervise the Design Assistant to ensure all clients receive detailed floor plans, furniture layouts, and schematic designs.
  • Partner with the Principal Designer to manage client communication throughout the design process, including any design revisions.
  • Oversee the organization and creation of all aspects of the Design Presentation, working closely with the design team.
  • Ensure all necessary materials and communication are prepared for installation, working in coordination with the Design Assistant.
  • Supervise the implementation of end-of-project communication to ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Manage the internal project Gantt calendar, tracking timelines and key milestones.
  • Schedule and attend site visits during the construction phase
  • Maintain and delegate design operational tasks to support project efficiency.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new design team members.
  • Actively participate in studio culture initiatives to foster a collaborative and inspiring work environment.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and product launches to stay informed on the latest styles, trends, and innovations.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities to stay up-to-date on new design techniques and technical advancements.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative, high-level design concepts that align with project goals and client needs.

Project Management Responsibilities: 

  • Trade Coordination & Communication – Serve as the primary point of contact for trades, ensuring clear communication of project details, timelines, and expectations.
  • End-to-End Project Oversight – Manage all aspects of project execution, from initial planning through completion, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to the design vision.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management – Oversee and coordinate trades, suppliers, and subcontractors to maintain workflow, resolve challenges, and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Scheduling & Calendar Management – Develop and maintain project timelines, coordinate site visits, and manage key deadlines to ensure smooth progression and timely completion.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making – Address and resolve project challenges efficiently, making informed decisions that align with the overall project goals.
  • Quality Control & Progress Tracking – Regularly monitor project milestones, conduct site visits, and ensure work meets design standards and client expectations.
  • Deadline & Deliverable Management – Work effectively under pressure, maintaining organization and focus to meet deadlines while producing high-quality results.
  • Collaboration & Team Support – Work closely with designers, clients, and external teams to ensure alignment and seamless project execution.

This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects while ensuring a high level of professionalism and efficiency.

Job Requirements:

  • Education– bachelor’s degree in interior design or a related field.
  • Experience– Minimum of 5 years of professional interior design experience.
  • Communication & Presentation Skills– Strong ability to convey design concepts through space planning, hand and digital drafting, and client presentations.
  • Material & Finish Selection– Extensive experience in selecting and specifying lighting, furnishings, hardware, flooring, window treatments, materials, and finishes.
  • Project & Budget Management– Proven ability to manage purchasing, track budgets, and oversee procurement processes.
  • Technical Proficiency– Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, Excel, and Houzz.
