RETAIL LEAD

We are seeking a Retail Lead with strong visual merchandising, purchasing, and customer service experience to oversee daily retail operations and support our growing design and retail business. This position combines leadership responsibilities with direct engagement on the sales floor, guiding customers through the shopping experience from initial greeting to final purchase. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, visually creative, and skilled in building lasting customer relationships while ensuring a high standard of service. This individual will play a key role in driving sales, supporting merchandising strategies, and maintaining an exceptional in-store experience.

Objectives of this role:

  • Deliver exceptional service to shoppers that results in repeat visits and long-term brand loyalty

  • Collaborate with coworkers to achieve store sales goals through suggestive selling and special promotions

  • Inform patrons about product features and benefits, offering opinions and recommendations when appropriate

  • Drive sales through strategic initiatives

  • Maintain a tidy shopping environment and welcoming atmosphere

  • Represent the company with professionalism and enthusiasm

  • Treat all customers with respect and courtesy

Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers within five seconds of entering the store Stone House wants to ensure each new client experiences our 5 senses journey

  • Learn names of repeat customers to greet them by name on future visits

  • Offer help and provide direct assistance to customers

  • Provide in-depth product knowledge, including features, benefits, and overall value

  • Answer customer questions and concerns

  • Attend to unique and individual shopping needs of each customer

  • Cross-sell and encourage beneficial product add-ons

  • Upsell when appropriate; promote current sales, promotions, coupon deals, etc.

  • Explain store-member benefits and encourage customers to sign up

  • Process purchases, returns, and exchanges

  • Handle customer complaints in a calm and professional manner

  • Report anything unusual or any major incidents to management

  • Help organize back stock and perform inventory counts

  • Process newly received shipments in partnership with Warehouse and Procurement Managers

  • Organize and replenish front stock and help merchandise store

  • Maintain a clean and tidy work and retail space

  • Manage sample library

  • Oversee Designer Trade Program, assisting with large orders, assigning team members as needed, and coordinating procurement process of orders

  • Be enthusiastic and informative about all products

  • Help create a positive environment for customers to shop and buy

  • Take direction from and report to assigned supervisor

  • Work as a team to achieve sales goals

  • Update shift notes template after each shift

  • Assist procurement coordinator with retail orders and coordination of deliveries

  • Lead coordination of Square maintenance & inventory management, partnering with procurement management as needed

Required skills and qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of retail experience with a proven background in visual merchandising, purchasing, and delivering exceptional customer service, preferably within luxury brands

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, professional demeanor

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze sales reports, create and present buy plans, and provide regular updates to leadership

  • Proven success working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Procurement and Warehouse

  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to manage and support a team

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Square, Microsoft Teams, and Houzz preferred

  • Ability to work 30–40 hours per week, including at least one weekend per month

Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • Experience in retail sales or customer service

  • Familiarity with Square, point-of-sale (POS) systems

  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment

  • Experience in furniture sales or interior design with familiarity of textiles, materials, etc., and their use and application in common household items

  • Able to work various shifts, events, weekends and holidays

Store Hours:

  • Closed Mondays
  • 10am – 5pm Tuesday – Saturday
  • 12pm – 4pm Sunday
  • Closed all Federal Holidays
